Episcopal Health Foundation, Health Plans, and MCOs Launch Effort to Address Social Determinants of Health in Texas
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Center for Health Care Strategies are also involved
AUSTIN—The Episcopal Health Foundation, Texas Association of Health Plans, and Texas Association of Community Health Plans jointly launched the Texas MCO Social Determinants of Health Learning Collaborative this week to develop and implement new ways to address social determinants of health (SDOH) in Texas.
Over the next year, the collaborative, which is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and supported by the Center for Health Care Strategies and Texas’ Health and Human Services Commission, will meet to share information and learn about national efforts to address SDOH.
At the first meeting, managed care organizations and members of the collaborative discussed barriers to addressing SDOH and how those barriers can be mitigated. The Center for Health Care Strategies will develop a work plan for the next 12 months based on comments at the first meeting.
